A rare early Victorian era carnelian intaglio pendant that freely spins to show the profile of a helmeted warrior on one side and a woman on the other, most likely Cleopatra and Mark Antony. The intaglios are deeply carved on both sides with beautiful details. A heavily chased frame constructed of weighty 14K yellow gold surrounds the carnelian. This large piece measures 2.1 inches long by 1.4 inches wide and weighs a substantial 18.3 grams. Please read below about the condition of the intaglio.
Metal: 14K Yellow Gold (acid tested)
Weight: 18.3 grams
Carnelian Intaglio: 17 mm by 20 mm
Measurement: 2.1 inches long by 1.4 inches wide
Markings: None
Condition: In fair antique condition with a crack in the carnelian that is visible on the side carved with the woman’s profile. The intaglio is securely and firmly set within the gold frame and there should be no issues with the integrity of the piece as a whole. The gold has developed a lovely darkened patina.
